Character Art

In this day and age, more and more authors are turning to AI-generated art to bring their books and characters to life. Aside from the ethical concerns around how much of that technology has been trained on artists’ work without their consent, I’ve always felt a bit uncomfortable with the idea of asking a machine to create the visual side of something so personal to me.

So, in a bid to avoid becoming one of those authors, I have instead done the completely sensible thing and taught myself to draw.

It means the artwork might not always be perfect, but it is mine. These are my characters as I see them, drawn by the same slightly feral human who wrote them in the first place. And honestly, I love being able to bring them to you myself rather than handing that part of the creative process over to AI.
